asked:
How do u feel about (white) ppl calling out Jameela Jamil for being in a diverse ad campaign that doesn’t have any ‘fat’ (their words) models?

I think white people like to get mad at women of colour for Woke points as an outlet for their racism. Jameela Jamil dares to speak out against Eurocentric beauty standards, white feminism, and societal sexism; and she has struggled with self-imagery and eating disorders. White celebrities are allowed to mess up, say slurs even, but their fans forgive them. People of colour— especially women of colour are viewed under a microscope and any slip up amplifies their consequences. Okay, so what about the ad? It was diverse, but because she’s not white it wasn’t “diverse enough.” It had disabled women, rape victims, blind women, black women, and asian women represented. She apologised for the ad, even. But she did not have to!

Again, it’s just a way for white people to find ways to be angry and racist even if they say they care for fat people and ~diversity~ or whatever— bc in actuality I’m damn sure they don’t care about this kind of stuff when it comes to their other fav white celebrity fuckups.

tl;dr As a fat asian guy I can see that white people do not actually care about my struggles, they just want to find a reason to hate this woman of colour for simply existing.
